Shooting Kabul was produced as a play by Stepping Stone Theater in St. Paul, MN in March 2015. Director Richard Hitchler commissioned playwright Kim Hines to develop a script after he heard NH Senzai’s interview on National Public Radio. Richard was fascinated by the story of a boy whose educated family flees Taliban rule in Afghanistan, only to find anti-Muslim sentiment in the United States after 9/11. He felt that a story of immigrants coming from Afghanistan to the U.S. isn’t told very often, especially a story about how people treat foreigners and people who are seen as different and outsiders.
